1 Samuel 30:6(NKJV)
6Now David was greatly distressed, for the
people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved,
every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
How did David
strengthen himself? In God! David drew closer to God. David sought out God. David prayed.
Do you ever feel
overwhelmed and in the need of some strengthening? Do you ever feel so overwhelmed that you feel
powerless? If so then I would suggest
you take a lesson from David. Actually
two lessons combined. Number one is
where do we go to get strengthened? We
go to God. Number two lesson is even
more important.
Who is in control of
whether you get strengthened or not? YOU
ARE! Notice that David took
control. He knew where his strength
comes from and David sought it out. He
didn't have to ask God permission. He
didn't have to wait meekly for God to notice that he needed help. All David had to do was take control and
seek God out. God has promised to always
make Himself available to us when we seek Him.
And what is the
first and most important part of seeking God?
Why accepting Jesus, God's son, as your personal Lord and Savior. Have you done that yet? If not then why not take control right now
and ask Jesus to come into your life and take control. "Dear Jesus…."
Seems simple enough! Crazy how we don't turn to God as often as we should. He makes it easy and puts the decision on us. All we have to do is seek Him! So awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd so easy! At least in theory. Just hard to stay consistent in real life.
