I love the lesson
Jesus teaches us here. Always be
prepared. Have a contingency plan. Check this out.
Mark 3:7-9(NKJV)
But Jesus withdrew
with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him,
and from Judea
and Jerusalem and
Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude,
when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him.
So He told His disciples that a
small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they
should crush Him.
What strikes me
about this is that Jesus really doesn't need a contingency plan does He? We are told that God has angels constantly on
duty to make sure that Jesus doesn't even stub a toe, so why worry about having
a boat on standby?
Personally I think
Jesus does some stuff just for our benefit.
To give us an answer to "what would Jesus do" in different
circumstances. I think that is the case
here. Jesus didn't really need to have a
contingency plan here but He wanted to send the message that it is a good
idea.
Good lesson to keep
in mind!
