Daniel 6:23-24(NKJV)
Now the king was
exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of
the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was
found on him, because he believed in his God.
And the king gave
the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they
cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their
wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in
pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.
Was it just that
their wives and children had to pay the price for their duplicity?
There are a couple
of ways to approach this. I think from
the human angle many would say that is wasn't fair or just because the wives
and children didn't do anything wrong.
On the other hand
the Old Testament tells us that the children will pay for the sins of the
father to the third and fourth generation.
Let's look at it
from another angle. God is using the
King to take vengeance for what the officials tried to do to Daniel. So if God is directing the King to do it,
would we accuse God of being unjust? I
sure wouldn't.
