Haggai 1:5-6(NKJV)
5Now therefore, thus says the Lord of
hosts: “Consider your
ways!
6 “You have sown
much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have
enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink;
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;
And he who earns wages, Earns
wages to put into a bag with
holes.”
What a great
passage. When things just aren't going
according to plan, consider your ways. I
want to offer a slightly different take on this.
I think for most of
us when we read this passage we read it as a warning from God that we are
sinning greatly and need to consider our ways.
While that may be the case for some, I would suggest that this passage
has a wider meaning than that.
"The definition
of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different
results." This quote has been
attributed to Einstein and Benjamin Franklin as well as others. I couldn't find a definitive answer so I will
just attribute it to anonymous.
But isn't it saying
the same thing? If things aren't working
out like you had expected, consider your ways.
It doesn't necessarily mean you are doing anything wrong, sinful, or
evil. It could simply mean that you need
to evaluate things and make a course correction. Do something differently.
Negative feedback in
the form of things not working out the way we wanted can be incredibly helpful
if we will take this simple advice. Don't fear the negative feedback. It's just telling you to consider your ways
so that you can make changes that will better your situation!
And just in case you
haven't done it yet, one of the ways you can change for immediate impact is to
accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Would you like Jesus to help?
Then ask Him for it today!
I like your insite on this! Very helpful! Thanks!
