Found this warning interesting.  Especially that fact that God felt it appropriate to warn us twice in the same chapter. 

If you are on FB any amount of time I'm sure you have seen people post stuff that sounds "vaguely Christian" while at the same time not seeming quite correct from the Bible you remember.  I believe these verses are a warning about listening to people like that.

God holds us accountable to study and know His word.  If we allow ourselves to be led astray by people like that, God says it is our fault.  Be on your guard!

Colossians 2:8(NKJV)

8Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 

Colossians 2:18-19(NKJV)

18Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has £not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 

19and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.
