Have you ever
noticed that God's promises are conditional.
There is always an IF attached to them.
What's really cool is that God gives us a road map for our salvation as
well as His favor. Here are a couple of
verses to illustrate the point.
Leviticus 26:3-4(NKJV)
3 ‘If you walk in My
statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,
4 then I will give
you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the
field shall yield their fruit.
Here is where God
said to His chosen people that if they followed God and did things His way,
life would be good. So as you can see
God's promises weren't without strings attached. There was a cost. In this case it was following all of the laws
that God had put in place through Moses.
As Christians we
have it much easier. As I pointed out
yesterday, the Apostle Paul says that we gentiles are not bound by the
law. We simply have to follow Christ.
Galatians 6:9-10(NKJV)
9And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we
shall reap if we do not
lose heart.
10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us
do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Here is another good
verse. Sometimes we can get a bit tired
helping others. What is the promise
here? That in the proper time we will reap. What is the IF? That we not lose heart. Another way of saying that is that we need to
keep our hope alive. If we do than we
will reap the reward. Pretty cool!
Does our salvation
come with an IF? It sure does. Do you know what it is? The IF is that you have to accept Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Why? Because God said so. His game, His rules. Have you accepted Jesus into your life? Why not do it right now? Just say a simple prayer, something like
this: "Dear Lord, I'm kinda new to this and I don't get it all yet but the
one thing that I do know is that I want Jesus to now be the Lord of my
life. Thank you so much for Him. Amen!"
