You're probably
wondering what the heck I am talking about?
Especially if you are younger. I
think all cars manufactured today come with power steering, just like all cars
today come with power brakes and air conditioning. That wasn't always the case.
In the old days all
three were a luxury. And to drive a car
without was like wrestling. Especially
if the car was sitting still. To turn the
front wheels to the left or right took two hands and lots of muscle.
In fact if you want
to feel what it was like go out and try to turn the wheels on your car without
turning the engine on. Now imagine
driving like that!
OK, still wondering
where I'm going with this aren't you?
I read Matthew 2
today. It tells the story of how God
directed Joseph through his dreams. Here
is an example.
Matthew 2:13(NKJV)
13Now when they had departed, behold, an
angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and
His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod
will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
And the amazing
thing is that Joseph did it. He didn't
question, he just did it. Not just
once. He did it repeatedly throughout
chapter 2. When God told him to go
somewhere or do something Joseph did it unquestioningly. And that was what made me think of power
steering vs. manual steering.
That's clear as mud
isn't it? Let me explain.
There are some
people like Joseph who seek God consistently and listen and do what God tells
them to do. In other word God is able to
direct their lives with power steering.
Those people make it easy for God.
On the other hand
there are people that question and resist God every step of the way. Even though God is trying to help them, they
are making it difficult because they are operating with manual steering. God can still help them but it takes a lot
more effort and it takes a lot longer.
So the question
today is which are you? Power steering
or manual steering? Are you doing all
you can to make it easy for God to lead you?
It starts by asking Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. To be the leader of your life. Have you done that yet?
If not, why not do
it right now? Just have a quiet
conversation with Jesus. "Dear
Jesus…."
Cool analogy! Thanks!
