As I have written
before, this is one of my bedrock beliefs.
God and Jesus are always in agreement.
So I look for things in both the OT and the NT that support each other. Well how about these two descriptions of the
final days when the Prince of Peace, Jesus, comes back to rule the earth.
Ezekiel 38:18-23(NKJV)
“And it will come to
pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the
Lord GOD, “that My fury will show in My
face.
For in My
jealousy and in the fire of My
wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in
the land of Israel,
so that the fish of
the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things
that creep on the earth, and all men who are
on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be
thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the
ground.’
I will call for a sword against
Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord GOD. “Every man’s sword will be
against his brother.
And I will bring him to judgment
with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on
the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and
brimstone.
Thus I will magnify Myself and
sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they
shall know that I am the Lord.”’
Compare that to
this.
Matthew 10:34-40(NKJV)
Matthew 10:34-40(NKJV)
“Do not think that I came to
bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
For I have come to ‘set a man against
his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her
mother-in-law’;
and ‘a man’s
enemies will be those of his own household.’
He who loves father or mother
more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me
is not worthy of Me.
And he who does not
take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
He who finds his
life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
“He who receives you
receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.
And this.
Revelation 19:9-18(NKJV)
Then he said to me,
“Write: ‘Blessed are those who are
called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the
true sayings of God.”
And I fell at his
feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that
you do not do that! I am
your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Now I saw heaven opened, and
behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and
in righteousness He judges and makes war.
His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on
His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except
Himself.
He was clothed with a robe dipped in
blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
And the armies in heaven,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white
horses.
Now out of His mouth goes
a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself
will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the
fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name
written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Then I saw an angel standing in
the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in
the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great
God,
that you may eat the flesh of
kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and
of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small
and great.”
As I've said many
times, those who believe in Kumbaya Jesus may be in for a heck of a surprise.
