Is a gift
from God ever evil?

There are a lot of
people who look at the saying in the Bible that it is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into Heaven and decide
that it means that it is bad or evil or even a sin to be rich.
If that is the case
then read this verse and I have a question on the other side.
Ecclesiastes 5:18-20(NKJV)
Here is what I have
seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the
good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life
which God gives him; for it is his
heritage.
As for every man to whom God has
given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his
heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.
For he will not
dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.
If a man's wealth is
a gift from God as Solomon says in Ecclesiastes then are we to assume that God
gives evil gifts? Or might the more
logical answer be that many are misinterpreting the eye of a needle verse? I think misinterpretation is the more likely
answer.
So what does the eye
of the needle verse mean? My belief is
that it means that the wealthy have more temptations between them and Heaven
and that is what makes it harder for them to get into Heaven. It has nothing to do with the mere fact that
they have wealth. It is all about the
additional temptations they face.
Make sense?
