I thought these
verses from Proverbs 11 paint a neat word picture of the rewards of
righteousness.
Proverbs 11:18(NKJV)
18 The wicked man does deceptive work,
But
he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.
How do we sow
righteousness? By first accepting Jesus
and then by taking Jesus' love to others.
Proverbs 11:25(NKJV)
25 The generous soul
will be made rich, And he who waters will also be
watered himself.
As part of that
sowing righteousness, we give generously of our time, efforts, and
treasure. "The generous soul will
be mad rich" simply illustrates the principal that the more you give the
more you get. The second part of that
verse illustrates what most of us who have ever helped someone in need already
knows, that we get a great feeling out of helping others. In other words it helps us.
Proverbs 11:28(NKJV)
28 He who trusts in
his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.
The righteous won't
flourish just a little bit, they will flourish like the trees and bushes all
around us.
Proverbs 11:30(NKJV)
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who wins souls is wise.
And that tree of
life is like a family tree of all those souls you have touched who you will get
to spend eternity with. Pretty cool!
